Radius 18cm Nimbus Windshield (24/25)
Radius 18cm Nimbus Windshield (24/25) | A focused addition for wind-conscious recording
Without a windshield, wind can interfere with a microphone recording, especially outdoors. The Radius 18cm Nimbus Windshield (24/25) is a microphone accessory for people who want a dedicated windshield in their recording setup. Its purpose is specific: help manage wind at the microphone, rather than change how the microphone captures sound in other ways. That makes it relevant for outdoor interviews, spoken-word recording and other situations where moving air may get in the way. The product name identifies an 18cm Nimbus version, with a 24/25 designation; those details matter when choosing and keeping track of the item. If you’re building a setup around a particular microphone, treat this as a targeted accessory, not a universal fix: the product information here doesn’t identify compatible microphones. It’s best suited to someone who already knows this is the version their setup calls for and wants a windshield as part of their recording kit.
Specialist Note
For an outdoor spoken-word recording, I’d first make sure the setup calls for the 18cm Nimbus version, then use the windshield to help keep wind from disturbing the microphone. That 18cm marking is useful when you’re selecting the specific size named here; it gives you a clear identifier to match against your setup. I’d also keep the 24/25 designation in view when choosing the product, so you’re working from the exact version name rather than a shortened description. This will suit someone who has already settled on the relevant microphone arrangement. One sensible limit: a windshield isn’t a substitute for choosing a position with less exposure to gusts, so I’d use it alongside careful placement.
