Rycote 15cm Short Hair SFT 19/22
Rycote 15cm Short Hair SFT 19/22 | Compact microphone wind protection
The defining choice is the short-haired finish: it gives this Rycote microphone cover a compact form rather than a long, shaggy profile. At 15 cm long, it’s intended for microphones in a particular size range, with “19/22” identifying the sizing in its name. That makes it worth considering when you need a close-fitting wind cover for a microphone specified for that size, rather than a larger, more general cover. It suits location sound recordists and anyone capturing spoken audio where air movement could become distracting. The short hair makes the design easy to place among other microphone accessories without a bulky outline. Its purpose is straightforward: add a wind-covering layer around the microphone. The name gives you the key details to match against your setup: 15 cm, Short Hair and SFT 19/22. It’s a specialist accessory, so the fit matters more than broad claims about performance.
Specialist Note
Setup stays simple when you can match the cover by its length and size designation instead of choosing by appearance alone. I’d look at this for a compact location-sound setup or spoken-word recording where you want a short-haired wind cover around the microphone. The 15 cm length gives you a clear reference for the microphone’s covered section; the 19/22 marking is the detail to compare with the size specified for your mic. That makes it a focused option, not a one-size-fits-everything accessory. If your recording calls for a larger cover, this short format may not be the right fit. For the right-sized microphone, it keeps the setup neat and direct.
