Rycote Diy Kit (SFT Fur Lining & Velcro)
Rycote DIY Kit (SFT Fur Lining & Velcro) | Make your own fur-lined microphone covering
Build a fur-lined covering for a microphone when you need a hands-on way to work with wind protection rather than reach for a ready-made accessory. The Rycote DIY Kit (SFT Fur Lining & Velcro) is a microphone accessory for people who want to make or adapt a covering themselves. Its name identifies the two key materials: SFT fur lining and Velcro. That makes it relevant to sound recordists, video makers and anyone assembling a microphone setup for outdoor dialogue, interviews or other location recording where moving air can interfere with clear sound. The fur lining gives you the material for a soft, furry outer surface, while Velcro provides a fastening element for your construction. It’s a straightforward starting point, not a finished cover: the appeal is being able to do the making yourself and shape the result around your own project.
Specialist Note
For making a fur-lined microphone covering, this kit gives you a direct material starting point instead of relying on loose fur and improvised tape. The two named elements each have a clear job: SFT fur lining forms the furry material, and Velcro gives you a fastening option as you put your design together. I’d point it towards someone building a mic covering for outdoor dialogue or an interview setup, where the furry surface can help manage wind reaching the microphone. The honest caveat is in the name: DIY means you’re doing the construction, so it suits a maker who wants to adapt a solution, not someone after a ready-to-use cover.
