Rycote Edirol (Roland) R09 Mini Windjammer
Rycote Edirol (Roland) R09 Mini Windjammer | Tame wind noise on your R09
Wind is less likely to overwhelm your recording when you add the Rycote Edirol (Roland) R09 Mini Windjammer to your setup. It’s a small windscreen made for the Edirol (Roland) R09, intended to help reduce the sound of air hitting the recorder’s microphone. That makes it relevant for R09 owners recording speech or ambient sound outdoors, where a gust can quickly become more prominent than the sound you wanted to capture. The benefit is focused: it addresses wind at the microphone, rather than changing the character of other sounds in your recording. The name is specific to the R09, so this is an accessory to consider for that recorder, not a general-purpose microphone cover. Its compact format is suited to a portable recording kit, and the black colour keeps the accessory visually simple. If you’re planning an outdoor recording, fitting a windscreen is a straightforward way to give your audio a better chance against passing breezes.
Specialist Note
The Rycote Edirol (Roland) R09 Mini Windjammer’s job is to help keep wind from taking over an R09 recording. I’d point an R09 owner towards it for outdoor spoken notes or recording the atmosphere of a place: use the windjammer when air movement is likely to reach the recorder’s microphone. The “Mini” name matters here; it keeps the accessory in the compact category, which makes sense alongside a portable recorder rather than a larger microphone setup. It’s black, so it has a quiet, unobtrusive look. One practical limit: this is aimed at wind noise, not other background sounds, so it won’t make a busy location quiet. I’d keep it with the R09 it’s named for.
