Rycote Hi Wind Cover 10
Rycote Hi Wind Cover 10 | Help manage wind on microphone recordings
Wind noise can spoil a spoken line or location recording before you notice it in your headphones. The Rycote Hi Wind Cover 10 is a microphone accessory named for that particular problem: it’s a cover intended for use when wind is a concern. It may suit people recording speech outdoors, from interviews to on-location narration, who want to address wind at the microphone rather than trying to fix unwanted noise later. The product name doesn’t identify a particular microphone or recording setup, so it’s best to judge it by the job you need it to do, not assume it fits a specific model. Think of it as a practical piece of the recording setup for conditions where moving air could get in the way. It won’t replace careful mic placement, but it gives you a dedicated cover to consider when planning a take in breezy surroundings.
Specialist Note
Does the Rycote Hi Wind Cover 10 address wind around a microphone? Yes—that’s the purpose its name points to. “Hi Wind” makes it relevant when you’re recording outside and wind is a concern; “Cover” tells you this is a physical microphone accessory, not a software fix for a noisy recording. I’d consider it for outdoor interviews or location narration, and plan to use it before recording starts so you’re tackling the problem at the microphone. Keep your placement thoughtful too: a cover isn’t a substitute for choosing a sheltered position. It’s a focused accessory, rather than a complete recording setup.
