Rycote I Rig Mic Cast Mini Windjammer
Rycote I Rig Mic Cast Mini Windjammer | Help reduce wind noise in outdoor recordings
Outdoor recordings are easier to listen to when wind doesn’t overpower the speech. The Rycote I Rig Mic Cast Mini Windjammer is a wind cover for the I Rig Mic Cast, intended to help reduce wind noise while you record. It’s aimed at people making spoken recordings on the move, from short interviews and voice notes to clips for social media. Use it when a breeze could interfere with the sound you want to capture; it’s a focused accessory, not a replacement for choosing a sheltered recording spot when conditions are very windy. The benefit is straightforward: you can add wind protection to your recording setup without changing the subject you’re filming or speaking with. For outdoor use, keep the microphone directed towards the speaker and avoid placing it where clothing or other objects can rub against it. That simple care helps keep the recording focused on the voice.
Specialist Note
One detail that matters in practice is “Mini”: this is a small-format wind cover, so it suits a compact I Rig Mic Cast setup rather than adding a bulky accessory to your recording routine. The Windjammer design is there to help tame wind noise, which is useful for a quick outdoor interview or a spoken clip recorded while walking at a calm pace. I’d still look for a sheltered position if the wind is strong; a small cover has limits in gusty conditions. Its black colour keeps the accessory visually restrained around the microphone. For anyone who records speech with the I Rig Mic Cast outside, it’s a specific, sensible bit of extra protection.
