Rycote ME 36 Mini Windjammer
Rycote ME 36 Mini Windjammer | Help reduce wind noise around your microphone
Outdoor dialogue is easier to listen to when wind isn’t dominating the recording. The Rycote ME 36 Mini Windjammer is a microphone accessory designed to help reduce wind noise around an ME 36 microphone. It’s suited to people recording speech or other sound where moving air could distract from the subject, such as a conversation outside or a take near an open window. The Mini name makes this a compact-style windjammer rather than a large microphone cover, so it’s aimed at a smaller microphone setup. Its black colour keeps the accessory visually understated on camera. Think of it as a practical aid for managing wind at the microphone, not as a way to remove every sound from a location: traffic, voices and other background noise remain separate recording challenges. For outdoor recording, it can help keep gusts from taking over the sound you’re trying to capture.
Specialist Note
First-time windjammer buyers can expect a cover to solve every outdoor audio problem; this one has a more specific job: helping with wind around an ME 36 microphone. The “Mini” in its name points to a compact form, which makes sense when you want wind protection without a large cover becoming the focus of a small recording setup. Its black colour is also visually low-key if the microphone is in shot. I’d consider it for spoken interviews outside or recording a scene beside an open window, where moving air can buffet the microphone. It won’t quiet traffic or nearby conversation, so choose the recording position with those sounds in mind too.
