Rycote Sony Nex-VG 10/20 Mini Wind Jammer + Foam | Help tame wind noise

Reduce the effect of wind on your camera’s recorded sound while filming outdoors with the Sony NEX-VG10 or NEX-VG20. The Rycote Sony Nex-VG 10/20 Mini Wind Jammer + Foam is a microphone accessory pairing a mini wind jammer with foam, for these named camera models. It’s intended for people who use their camera’s microphone and want wind to be less distracting in recordings of speech, events or everyday scenes outside. The small-format wind protection is suited to a camera setup where a larger microphone rig isn’t part of the plan. Use it when a light breeze would otherwise compete with the sound you’re trying to capture; it can help soften that interference, though it can’t make strong gusts disappear. For outdoor filming with the NEX-VG10 or NEX-VG20, it offers a straightforward way to address wind at the microphone without changing the kind of camera setup you’re using.

Specialist Note

The foam element gives this compact wind-protection set a simple, low-profile feel in a camera setup: it’s made for the Sony NEX-VG10/20, rather than being a general-purpose accessory. The mini wind jammer is the part to consider when a breeze is reaching the microphone; I’d use it for a short outdoor interview or a spoken clip in a garden, where wind can distract from the voice. Keep the mic positioned to favour the person speaking, then let the wind protection help with the air movement around it. It’s a practical, focused accessory, but it shouldn’t be treated as a fix for strong gusts.
