Rycote Tascam DR-100/DR-100MKII Mini Windjammer
Rycote Tascam DR-100/DR-100MKII Mini Windjammer | Helps tame wind noise outdoors
Wind across a microphone can spoil an otherwise clear outdoor recording; the Rycote Tascam DR-100/DR-100MKII Mini Windjammer is made to help keep that noise down. It’s a model-specific accessory for owners of either named Tascam recorder, and suits people recording speech, interviews or ambient sound outside. The Mini Windjammer is most useful when a light breeze would otherwise compete with the sound you’re trying to capture. It gives you a straightforward way to address wind at the microphone, rather than relying on the recorder alone to make a breezy take usable. That’s especially helpful for location work where you can’t control the weather. It won’t remove other sounds from a recording, but for wind affecting the microphones, this is the focused accessory to consider for the DR-100 or DR-100MKII.
Specialist Note
First-time buyers sometimes choose a wind cover as a general accessory and overlook whether it’s intended for their recorder. This one is specifically named for the Tascam DR-100 and DR-100MKII, so you can match it to either of those models rather than guessing from appearance. The “Mini” designation also points to a compact wind-cover option, useful when you want to address breezy outdoor speech or ambient recording without adding a large accessory. I’d use it when wind is getting in the way of a take, while keeping expectations realistic: it’s for wind noise, not traffic, voices nearby or every challenge of recording outdoors.
