Rycote Windjammer WJ 2
Rycote Windjammer WJ 2 | A wind-focused accessory for microphone use
Outdoors, wind can interfere with a microphone recording and make the sound harder to use. The Rycote Windjammer WJ 2 is a microphone accessory for that kind of situation: its name identifies it as a windjammer, a product intended to help with wind around a microphone. It’s relevant to people recording speech or other sound where wind may be part of the environment, rather than something they want prominent in the recording. The product name gives you the maker and model, but not a specific microphone fit or a physical design detail, so I wouldn’t assume compatibility from “WJ 2” alone. Think of it as a focused accessory to consider when wind is a concern in your recording setup. If you’re choosing one for a particular microphone, the fit is the key practical question to resolve before relying on it. That keeps the purchase grounded in your actual setup, rather than guesswork.
Specialist Note
“Windjammer” is the useful clue in this product’s name: it tells you this Rycote accessory is aimed at wind around a microphone. I’d consider it when recording spoken words outdoors, where wind can distract from what someone is saying, or when capturing sound in a breezy location. The WJ 2 model name is specific, but it doesn’t tell me which microphone it fits, so I wouldn’t want to promise compatibility without knowing your mic. If you tell me its make and model, I can help you establish whether this is the right match. It’s a purpose-led accessory, and getting that match right matters more than guessing from the name.
