Rycote Windjammer WJ AF | Wind protection for microphone use

Rycote Windjammer WJ AF is a microphone windjammer for people who need to reduce wind noise around a microphone. It suits anyone recording speech or sound where moving air can get in the way, including location recordists and content creators working outdoors. Its purpose is specific: it’s an accessory to use when wind is a concern, rather than a microphone or a general-purpose recording tool. Keep it in mind for spoken-word recordings in a breezy setting, or when you’re capturing sound outside and want to address wind at the microphone itself. The product name identifies it as the WJ AF model, but gives no further detail about fit or construction, so I can’t recommend it for a particular microphone from the information here. If you’re choosing a wind accessory, the key practical question is whether it suits your microphone; this listing doesn’t establish that match.

Specialist Note

When wind starts reaching the microphone, a Windjammer is the kind of focused accessory you want in the setup, rather than something meant to change the sound in every situation. I’d consider the Rycote WJ AF for outdoor speech recording or capturing ambient sound in a breezy place: position the wind protection at the microphone, where it can address the source of the problem. The name gives you two useful identifiers at the counter: Rycote is the brand, and WJ AF is the model designation. One important point: I can’t confirm a microphone match from those details alone, so don’t assume it fits a particular mic based just on the name.
