Rycote Windshield Kit Mini CMIT
Rycote Windshield Kit Mini CMIT | Wind protection for Mini CMIT recordings
On a breezy location recording, wind can quickly become a distraction in dialogue. The Rycote Windshield Kit Mini CMIT is a microphone accessory for recordings made with the Mini CMIT, intended to help manage that problem at the microphone. It’s relevant to sound recordists working outdoors, from interviews to spoken-word scenes, and to anyone putting together a setup around this named microphone. The useful point is its specific designation: this isn’t presented as a general windshield kit, but as one for the Mini CMIT. That gives you a clear starting point when choosing an accessory for that setup. Think of it as a way to address wind during recording, rather than a fix for other sources of unwanted sound such as traffic or room echo. If wind is part of the job, this is the Rycote kit to consider for a Mini CMIT.
Specialist Note
The windshield is the physical detail that matters here: it sits around the Mini CMIT to help deal with wind at the microphone. For a setup built around one Mini CMIT, I’d consider it for outdoor dialogue, such as an interview or a location scene where gusts could distract from the voice. The aim is to reduce wind interference as it reaches the mic; it won’t remove traffic noise or room echo, so those still need attention in the recording setup. Rycote’s name and the Mini CMIT designation make this a specifically named pairing, rather than a general answer for every microphone. If that’s the mic you’re using and wind is a concern, the purpose of this kit is clear.
