Schneider CFG Rhodium FSND 1.2 4x5.65
Schneider CFG Rhodium FSND 1.2 4x5.65 | Four stops of light control
The defining choice here is the ND 1.2 density: it cuts the light reaching the camera by four stops, giving you more room to manage exposure in bright conditions. Schneider makes this filter in a 4x5.65 format, for productions and still-image setups built around that size. It’s a straightforward tool for holding a chosen aperture or shutter speed when the available light would otherwise push your exposure beyond it. That can be useful when filming outdoors, or when a longer exposure helps show movement in a scene. The fixed density makes its effect predictable, though it won’t let you dial in a smaller reduction. If your work calls for a four-stop cut and your filter holder takes the 4x5.65 format, the Schneider CFG Rhodium FSND 1.2 gives you a clear, specific option to consider.
Specialist Note
On a bright afternoon, a reflective water surface can make a longer exposure difficult without changing your chosen aperture. This filter’s ND 1.2 density takes away four stops, so a metered 1/250 sec exposure becomes about 1/15 sec if you keep the aperture and ISO unchanged. That’s a practical starting point for softening visible movement in water. The 4x5.65 format suits a setup designed for that filter size, so I’d match it to the holder already used in your workflow. It’s aimed at camera operators and image-makers who need a defined light reduction; the fixed four-stop strength is the trade-off if conditions call for a lighter cut.
