Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV 77mm Radiant Soft 1
Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV 77mm Radiant Soft 1 | A softer, more radiant image
Highlights take on a softer, more radiant character with the Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV 77mm Radiant Soft 1. This is a specialist color filter for photographers who want that effect in-camera, rather than relying on editing to create it later. It suits portrait work and scenes where bright light is part of the picture: the soft look can add a gentler feel to faces and luminous details. The “Soft 1” name identifies the filter’s particular version, while 77mm gives you the size to match against the lens you plan to use. It’s a considered creative choice, not a filter for keeping a scene’s rendering unchanged. If you want to shape the mood of an image at capture, this Schneider-Kreuznach gives you a direct way to do it.
Choosing the effect
Think of the Radiant Soft 1 as a look-making filter. It’s suited to portraits, or to a composition where bright sources or reflections should feel gentler in the image. The effect is built into the capture, so it becomes part of the photograph from the outset. That’s useful when you want a consistent visual character across a set, though it’s less suited to work where you need an unaltered rendering.
Specialist Note
The Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV 77mm Radiant Soft 1 is for giving bright details and portraits a softer, more radiant look. The 77mm marking is the practical point to match to the filter thread on your lens; it tells you which size to look for before choosing this filter. “Soft 1” names the specific effect, so I’d treat it as a deliberate creative choice rather than a neutral filter. It suits portrait photographers and anyone composing with bright lights in the frame. Try it for a close portrait or a lit interior when you want a gentler rendering. If you need the scene to stay unchanged, this isn’t the filter I’d suggest.
