Sirui Astra Series 50mm T1.8 1.33X Cine Lens (L Mount Blue Flare)

Sirui  |  SKU: AST-50-LB

Sirui Astra Series 50mm T1.8 1.33X Cine Lens (L Mount Blue Flare) | Anamorphic framing for considered filmmaking

The 1.33X anamorphic design and Blue Flare character give this Sirui Astra a more distinctive starting point than a conventional standard prime. It’s made for filmmakers who want a deliberate visual style and the control of a cinema lens, rather than a lens for quick, casual snapshots. The 50mm focal length suits composed shots, dialogue scenes and details, while the Leica L mount makes it an option for a compatible L-mount camera setup. Use it when you want a cinematic frame with a recognisable flare signature, or when you’re building a consistent look around a prime lens. The Astra is particularly suited to video and filmmaking where framing and focus can be planned. Its anamorphic design calls for a considered workflow: this is a lens to use with intention, not a general-purpose zoom replacement.

Specialist Note

The Sirui Astra 50mm T1.8 is at its best when you want controlled, anamorphic-looking shots with a defined blue flare character. The T1.8 maximum aperture gives you room to work in lower available light and can help separate a subject from the background; I’d start there for a carefully lit dialogue close-up. Focus is manual, so plan focus pulls rather than expecting the lens to track a moving subject for you. That suits filmmakers who like to mark and rehearse a shot, especially for interview scenes or paced narrative work. The trade-off is that it asks for a steadier, more deliberate approach during fast, unscripted coverage.
