Slik SBM-01 Quick Mount Plate | Make tripod setup quicker

For moving a camera between handheld use and a tripod, a quick-mount plate is intended to make the change more straightforward. The Slik SBM-01 Quick Mount Plate is a tripod accessory, and its name identifies its role: a plate for quick mounting. It’s suited to photographers who use a tripod as part of their regular setup and want a dedicated mounting piece rather than treating the tripod as a permanent fixture. Think of setting up a composed landscape frame, then taking the camera off the tripod when you’re ready to move on. The benefit here is practical and focused: a plate designed around quick mounting, not an extra camera feature or a change to image quality. If you’re choosing an accessory for a particular camera-and-tripod combination, make sure the plate matches the system you plan to use; the product details here don’t identify a specific compatible system.

Specialist Note

A plate is the small piece that sits at the centre of a camera’s tripod setup, and the “Quick Mount” name tells you what the SBM-01 is designed to help with: getting the camera mounted without making that step the focus of your session. I’d consider it for a landscape photographer who sets a frame on a tripod, then wants to lift the camera away between compositions, or for a still-life setup that needs repeat positioning. The product is identified as a tripod accessory, so keep its job in mind: it helps with mounting, rather than changing how the camera makes an image. It’s a specific-purpose part, not a general camera upgrade.
