SmallRig 4663 CFexpress (Type A) Docking Station For Creators

SmallRig 4663 CFexpress (Type A) Docking Station For Creators | A compact 9-in-1 desk hub

A CFexpress Type A card needs offloading, but your desk also needs room for a screen, wired network and other accessories. The SmallRig 4663 CFexpress (Type A) Docking Station For Creators combines a Type A card reader with a 9-in-1 selection of connections, including SD and microSD readers, USB ports, HDMI and Gigabit Ethernet. It’s a compact way to bring card access and several desk connections together through a USB-C host connection. For a creator working with Type A media, the card slot reads at up to 1000 MB/s, while the SD and microSD readers are rated up to 312 MB/s. That makes the dock useful at an editing desk where footage arrives on different card formats. The HDMI output supports up to 4K at 30Hz for connecting a display, and Gigabit Ethernet provides a wired network connection alongside the card readers and USB ports. There’s also a 100W PD-IN port for power delivery to the dock. One detail to keep in mind: HDMI is specified at 30Hz, so its stated limit is clear. At 121.9 x 56.9 x 17 mm and 195 g, the dock stays small enough to move between workspaces.

Ports for a Creator’s Desk

• CFexpress Type A reader: The single Type A slot supports read speeds up to 1000 MB/s. It provides a direct place to access Type A cards as part of a connected workstation.
• SD and microSD readers: Both formats are supported, with transfer speeds up to 312 MB/s. The readers accept SD, SDHC and SDXC, plus microSD, microSDHC and microSDXC cards; UHS-I and UHS-II standards are supported.
• USB-C and USB-A data: One USB-C data port is rated at 10 GB/s, and two USB-A ports are rated at 5 GB/s each. That gives connected desk accessories dedicated ports alongside the card readers.
• HDMI and Gigabit Ethernet: The dock includes an HDMI output supporting up to 4K at 30Hz, plus a Gigabit Ethernet port. They bring a display connection and wired networking into the same hub.
• 100W PD-IN: A dedicated power-delivery input supports up to 100W. It’s a separate power connection in a dock that also carries card and data connections.
• 50cm high-speed cable: The included USB-C cable is a 20G cable and supports 10 GB/s data transfer. Its 50cm length keeps the host connection close to the dock on a desk.
• Fin-like heat-dissipating form: The dock’s fin-inspired structure is intended to move heat away from the unit. That design detail matters during a session involving repeated access to stored media.

Good to know

The housing combines aluminium alloy and ABS, and the stated operating temperature range is -10°C to 50°C. The dock measures 121.9 x 56.9 x 17.0 mm and weighs 195 g, so its footprint and weight are easy to factor into a portable workstation. A separate dock section can hold cables of different lengths, keeping spare cable out of the main work area.
