The SmallRig 5258 Night Eagle Cage is designed to protect your Nikon camera while opening up a wide range of mounting options for video and content creation. Its curved profile, gold-toned details, classic red Nikon logo, and vintage-style leather accents give it a distinctive retro-inspired look with a professional finish.
Built for secure mounting and full camera access
A three-point locking system helps keep the camera firmly in place with a bottom 1/4"-20 screw and two M2.5 side screws, reducing twisting and improving overall stability. Built-in padding helps guard against scratches, while the cage is shaped to leave key camera controls, ports, the tilting screen, and battery access unobstructed.
Flexible expansion for accessories
The cage offers multiple mounting points for building out your rig. Use the included removable cold shoe mount with anti-twist pin, or attach accessories to the many 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded points, including ARRI-style 3/8"-16 locations.

Quick transitions for any shooting setup
An integrated HawkLock Arca-Swiss base plate makes it easy to move between Arca-type tripods and DJI RS series gimbals. This allows faster switching between handheld, stabilized, and tripod shooting without slowing down your workflow.
Additional mounting options
On the left side, a HawkLock quick-release NATO rail supports fast attachment of compatible side handles. The cage also includes a strap slot for wrist straps, a QD socket for shoulder straps, and shoulder strap slots that let you carry the camera with the lens facing downward for added protection.
Power and workflow support
For longer shooting sessions, the cage can be paired with V-mount battery plates and V-mount batteries. A built-in dual wrench on the bottom makes mounting and removal more convenient.
