Sony AKA-FL2 Floating Strap
Sony AKA-FL2 Floating Strap | Helps keep a camera afloat near water
The Sony AKA-FL2 has a specific job: it’s a floating camera strap, intended to help keep a camera on the water’s surface if it slips from your grip. That makes it relevant to camera users around pools, on boats or near the water’s edge, where a dropped camera can quickly become difficult to retrieve. Its appeal is practical rather than complicated: it adds flotation through the strap, instead of relying on a camera or housing to provide that function. Keep it attached while handling your camera near water so the strap can do its job if you lose hold. It’s worth keeping the distinction clear: a floating strap doesn’t make a camera waterproof or protect it from water getting inside. For someone who wants a simple flotation aid for water-adjacent use, that focused purpose is the point.
Specialist Note
One clear job is what makes the AKA-FL2 easy to understand: in practice, it’s a camera strap intended to help keep your camera afloat if it goes into the water. Sony’s name identifies the product, while “Floating Strap” tells you the particular role it’s designed for. I’d consider it for poolside filming or using a camera on a boat; keep the strap attached as you handle the camera so it can help if your grip slips. The important limit is that flotation isn’t waterproofing. I’d treat this as an added safeguard around water, not a substitute for protecting the camera itself.
