Tiffen 127SRPOL 127mm SR Linear Polarizer
Tiffen 127SRPOL 127mm SR Linear Polarizer | Control reflections and deepen skies
Its 127mm format makes the Tiffen 127SRPOL a specialist filter for setups that take a filter of this size, rather than a small screw-in filter for an ordinary lens. It’s a linear polarizer, made to help manage reflected light and the appearance of skies in a photograph. Landscape photographers can use a polarizer to deepen blue skies; photographers working around glass or water can use one to reduce distracting reflections. The effect depends on the angle of the light and the filter, so it’s something to adjust while composing, not a fixed look applied to every frame. This filter will suit photographers who already work with a compatible 127mm filter arrangement and want polarizing control in that system. Its large format is a specific requirement, so it’s worth matching the filter size to your setup before choosing it.
Specialist Note
The Tiffen 127SRPOL is for controlling reflected light in a 127mm filter setup. I’d consider it when reflections on water or glass are getting in the way: adjust the filter’s angle while watching the scene, and stop when the unwanted glare is reduced. For a landscape, the same adjustment can deepen a blue sky when the light is at a suitable angle. The 127mm size means this isn’t a filter to buy by appearance alone; your existing holder or system needs to accept that size. Its linear design is the key detail here, so I’d make sure it suits the way your camera setup handles a linear polarizer before relying on it for a particular job.
