Tilta Ubp-AB Universal Battery Plate - Gold Mount | Extra support for handheld video

For handheld video work, this shoulder-rig setup gives the camera extra support as you frame and operate, helping you create footage with a more controlled feel. The Tilta Ubp-AB Universal Battery Plate - Gold Mount is a shoulder rig built around a universal battery plate with a Gold Mount. It suits videographers who want to work handheld with added support, whether they’re filming an interview, recording an event or making a short documentary. The benefit is practical: you can work with the camera supported on a shoulder rig rather than relying on an unsupported handheld setup. The Gold Mount specification makes this a specific battery-plate configuration, so it’s worth considering as part of the rig you’re putting together. If your filming involves frequent handheld operation, this product is aimed at that way of working. It’s a focused rig component for supported video capture, rather than a general-purpose tripod.

Specialist Note

The Gold Mount fitting is the defining physical detail here: it makes this a specific battery-plate setup within a shoulder rig. I’d consider it for handheld interviews or event coverage, where the camera needs extra support while you keep operating on the move. The shoulder-rig format is the useful part for that work; it gives your handheld setup a support point instead of leaving you to hold the camera unsupported. The universal battery plate is central to the product’s role, so think of it as part of a rig build, not as a stand-alone camera support. It’s best suited to operators who already have a shoulder-rig workflow in mind and specifically need a Gold Mount plate in that setup.
