Tokina Cinema 35mm T1.5 (MFT) | A bright prime for focused filmmaking

For video scenes that call for a composed, tighter view and precise focus, the Tokina Cinema 35mm T1.5 (MFT) is a standard prime lens with a fast maximum T1.5 aperture. Its 35mm focal length gives filmmakers a fixed perspective to work with, while the Micro Four Thirds mount makes it a lens for that camera system. It’s suited to filmmakers and video creators who prefer to set their framing deliberately rather than zoom during a shot. The wide maximum aperture gives you room to work in dimmer settings and to reduce depth of field when you want your subject to feel separate from the background. Manual focus puts focus changes under your control, which is useful when a scene depends on a planned shift between subjects. It’s an interchangeable lens made for video and filmmaking.

Specialist Note

Tighter interview framing can be hard to achieve when your current view feels too wide; this 35mm gives you a more focused angle on a Micro Four Thirds camera. Its field of view is comparable to 70mm on full frame, which makes it a considered fit for a seated interview or a portrait-style shot. The T1.5 maximum aperture gives you more flexibility in lower light and helps soften the background when you focus carefully on your subject. Focus is manual, so I’d recommend it to a filmmaker who wants to set and repeat focus positions rather than rely on autofocus. It’s a fixed focal length, so you’ll need to adjust your camera position to change the framing.
