Urth 49mm Variable ND2 32 + CPL Filter Pro
Urth 49mm Variable ND2 32 + CPL Filter Pro | Adjust light and reflections
Keep motion in a waterfall soft or balance a bright scene for a more controlled exposure with the Urth 49mm Variable ND2 32 + CPL Filter Pro. It combines a variable neutral density range of ND2 to ND32 with a circular polariser, giving you two ways to shape the light reaching your lens. The ND setting reduces light, which can help you choose a slower shutter speed in daylight; the CPL can reduce reflections and bring more depth to skies and foliage. This combination suits landscape photographers, anyone filming outdoors, and photographers who want more control in changing light without swapping between separate filter effects. The 49mm size is for a lens with a matching 49mm filter thread. It’s most useful when you want to manage exposure and reflections in the same scene, rather than simply protect the front of a lens.
Using the combined effect
Think of the ND adjustment as exposure control and the polarising effect as a way to manage reflected light. For a bright stream, reducing the light lets you try a slower shutter speed to soften the water. For a scene with reflective leaves or windows, the polariser can help tame glare. The result depends on the light and your chosen settings, so make small adjustments while watching the image.
Specialist Note
The 49mm diameter makes this a lens-thread decision: it’s a match for a lens with a 49mm filter thread, not a camera body size. I’d consider it for outdoor work where exposure and reflections both need attention. The ND2–32 range gives you room to reduce incoming light by roughly one to five stops, handy when you want motion in a daytime waterfall or need to keep exposure under control while filming outside. The CPL adds a separate benefit for reflective surfaces, such as water or leaves. One practical point: because the filter combines these effects, take a moment to check both the exposure and the polarising effect as you adjust it.
