Urth 52 62mm Step Up Ring Lens Filter Adapter
Urth 52 62mm Step Up Ring Lens Filter Adapter | Use larger filters on smaller threads
Without a step-up ring, you’d need a filter that matches each lens’s filter thread. This adapter bridges that gap: it lets a lens with a 52mm filter thread take a 62mm filter. It suits photographers who already own larger filters and want to use them on a lens with a smaller thread, rather than buying another filter in a different size. The job is specific and simple: connect the lens and filter at their matching ends. It’s most useful when the lens and filter sizes match the adapter’s step-up direction. Think of it as a small link in your filter setup, not a filter itself; it doesn’t alter the effect of the filter you attach. If your kit includes lenses with different thread sizes, this can help you make better use of a larger filter.
How it works
Fit the ring between the lens and the filter: the smaller threaded side goes to the lens, and the larger side accepts the filter. That gives you a straightforward way to use a larger-thread filter on a lens with a smaller thread. The direction matters, so this adapter isn’t for fitting a smaller filter to a lens with a larger thread.
Specialist Note
“Can I use a larger filter on a lens with a smaller thread?” Yes—that’s exactly what this Urth ring is for. I’d suggest it if you already have a 62mm filter and want to use it on a lens with a 52mm thread: attach the ring to the lens, then fit the filter to the ring. It’s also handy if you’d rather share a larger filter between lenses that have the right thread sizes. The useful detail is the step-up direction: it goes from the smaller lens thread to the larger filter, not the other way around. So it solves one specific mismatch, but won’t help if your filter is the smaller part.
