Urth 62mm Base Filter Kit Pro (UV CPL)
Urth 62mm Base Filter Kit Pro (UV CPL) | Control reflections and manage UV light
Reflections on water or a shop window can obscure the detail you want in a photograph; a circular polarising filter gives you a way to reduce them. The Urth 62mm Base Filter Kit Pro is named for its UV and CPL filter options, in a 62mm size. It suits photographers whose lens accepts a 62mm filter and who want these two filter types available for different situations. A CPL can also deepen blue skies and make foliage look more saturated, with the effect adjusted by rotating the filter as you compose. The UV option gives you a different filter choice when you don’t want polarisation. The kit’s value is in having both roles covered, rather than expecting one filter to change every scene. For reflections, sky and foliage, the CPL is the one to reach for; for other situations, choose according to the effect you want.
Specialist Note
Glare can wash over a scene and make the subject harder to see; the CPL option here gives you a direct way to dial some of that reflection back. The 62mm size matters when choosing a filter: it’s for a lens with a matching 62mm filter thread. For water or glass, rotate the CPL while looking through the viewfinder or at the screen, and stop when the reflection is reduced to your taste. It can also help give a blue sky more depth. The UV option is useful when you want a UV filter rather than a polarising effect. Just bear in mind that polarisation depends on the angle of the light, so it won’t affect every view equally.
