Urth 72mm Base Filter Kit Pro (UV CPL)
Urth 72mm Base Filter Kit Pro (UV CPL) | Manage reflections and glare outdoors
Reduce reflections on water and glass, and bring more definition to a blue sky, with the Urth 72mm Base Filter Kit Pro (UV CPL). It’s a filter kit for photographers who want more control over reflected light in outdoor scenes, without relying on editing to make those changes later. The 72mm size is the key detail when choosing it: the filter size needs to match the filter thread on your lens. A circular polariser can help suppress reflections from non-metallic surfaces and deepen the appearance of a sky, depending on the shooting angle. The kit also names UV filtration, giving you a second kind of filter to consider for daylight work. It’s particularly relevant for landscapes, travel scenes and everyday views where glare obscures detail.
Polarising effects depend on the direction you’re facing in relation to the sun, so the result can change as you reframe. That makes the CPL useful when you can take a moment to adjust your composition and assess the reflections, rather than expecting the same effect in every direction. For a scene with water or a shop window, look for the glare that’s hiding detail and adjust your framing to see how much of it the filter removes. The sky effect can also vary across a wide view, so check the whole frame before settling on your composition.
Specialist Note
The 72mm diameter is the practical detail to check against your lens: matching filter sizes makes this kit relevant to your setup, while a different size won’t be a direct fit. I’d use the CPL when reflections are part of the problem—say, water hiding stones below the surface—and adjust the polarising effect while watching those reflections change. It can also deepen a blue sky, though the result depends on your angle to the sun and may be uneven across a broad view. The UV filter gives you a separate filtration option; the kit suits photographers who want both UV and polarising filters in one named set.
