Urth 77mm Variable ND2 32 + ¼ Black Mist Filter Pro
Urth 77mm Variable ND2–32 + ¼ Black Mist Filter Pro | Control light, soften highlights
Bright daylight can force you to close your aperture or use a faster shutter than you want, while hard highlights can make a scene feel stark. The Urth 77mm Variable ND2–32 + ¼ Black Mist Filter Pro addresses both concerns in one filter: its variable ND function reduces incoming light, while the Black Mist effect softens the appearance of bright highlights. It suits photographers and video makers who want more control over exposure in bright conditions and a gentler highlight rendering. Use the ND adjustment when the available light makes it difficult to keep your preferred exposure settings; the mist effect can add a softer look around point lights and bright reflections. It’s a creative option when a plain ND filter would control light but leave the rendering crisp. The two effects work together, so you can manage exposure and highlight character with the same filter rather than treating them as separate decisions.
Specialist Note
At ¼ Black Mist, I’d use this around bright window light or point lights when I want highlights to bloom gently without making the whole frame look hazy. The ND2–32 range gives roughly one to five stops of light reduction, which can help you keep a chosen aperture in bright conditions or use a slower shutter for moving water. The 77mm size is the measurement to match to your lens’s filter thread. I’d recommend it to photographers who want exposure control and a softened highlight treatment in one filter. One limit: ND32 tops out at five stops, so very bright scenes may call for stronger ND.
