VAXIS VFX 114mm Diopter +3
VAXIS VFX 114mm Diopter +3 | Bring small subjects closer
The defining detail of this VAXIS is its +3 diopter strength: it’s a close-up filter for photographers who want to focus nearer than their lens normally allows. The 114mm size makes it a specialist option for a lens setup that accepts filters of that diameter, rather than a small, general-purpose accessory. It suits close-up work on flowers, small objects and other details where getting physically closer may not be practical. Fit the diopter in front of the lens, then work near the lens’s close-focus end to frame your subject larger. The result depends on the lens and focusing distance, so treat the +3 strength as an aid to closer focusing, not a promise of a particular reproduction ratio. If your work calls for a 114mm filter size and extra close-focus range, this is a focused solution; it isn’t a polarizing filter for managing reflections or sky contrast.
Specialist Note
114mm is the key sizing detail here: in practice, it means this diopter belongs with a lens setup made for that large filter diameter. The +3 strength is what helps you work closer, so I’d consider it for small tabletop subjects or flower details when your lens’s usual close-focus limit leaves too much space around the subject. Set up at the lens’s nearest focusing range and adjust your framing from there. It’s a specialist tool rather than an everyday filter, and the exact working distance will depend on the lens you pair it with. For the right 114mm setup, that extra close-focus capability is the point.
