VAXIS VFX 150mm Handheld Diopter +2
VAXIS VFX 150mm Handheld Diopter +2 | Bring close details into focus
Close-up work is usually done by relying on a lens’s minimum focusing distance or changing the lens altogether. The VAXIS VFX 150mm Handheld Diopter +2 offers another approach: hold this +2 diopter in front of your camera lens to work closer to a subject. It suits photographers and filmmakers who want to explore small details with their existing shooting setup, especially for tabletop subjects, product details or textures. The result depends on the lens and subject, so it’s best thought of as a way to extend close-focus possibilities rather than a replacement for a dedicated macro lens. It’s also a hands-on accessory: you’ll position it yourself while framing, which gives you flexibility but takes a steady touch. If you enjoy working slowly with close subjects, that direct control can be useful.
Specialist Note
At a tabletop, I’d bring the +2 diopter up by hand when a small label, surface mark or product detail sits just beyond my lens’s comfortable focus range. The +2 strength gives you a clear close-up purpose, rather than asking you to treat it as a general filter. Since it’s handheld, you can adjust its position as you compose; take your time keeping it aligned with the lens for a clean view. The 150mm designation is part of this VFX model’s name, so keep the full model name to hand when sourcing or discussing it. I’d recommend it to someone who wants occasional close-detail work, with the honest caveat that holding it steady takes practice.
