Westcott 32" Rapid Box Duo Octa 40 Degree Grid

Westcott 32" Rapid Box Duo Octa 40 Degree Grid | More controlled light from your softbox

Westcott 32" Rapid Box Duo Octa 40 Degree Grid is a grid for a 32-inch Rapid Box Duo Octa, with a 40-degree angle for directing light more selectively. It’s for photographers who want to limit light spill and keep more control over where their softbox light falls. That can be useful when you’re shaping a portrait or product setup and want the background or nearby parts of the scene to receive less light. A grid gives you a more controlled way to use a softbox than leaving its light unrestricted; the trade-off is a narrower spread. If you want broad, even light across a larger area, that may not be the effect you’re after. The useful detail here is the named 40-degree angle: it gives you a clear starting point when choosing how tightly to contain the light, rather than relying on the softbox alone.

Choosing when to use it

Think of this as a light-control accessory, not a different kind of softbox. The Rapid Box Duo Octa remains the named softbox in the product name; the grid is there for situations where you want to be more deliberate about spill. For a portrait, that might mean keeping light off a wall or reducing how much it reaches beyond your subject. In a product setup, it can help direct attention by keeping illumination more contained. Those are practical uses of a grid, not a promise of a particular look: the result depends on how you position and aim your light and on the rest of the scene. The honest limitation is that a more restricted spread gives you less coverage, so you may need to adjust the light placement to suit the area you’re photographing. If that kind of control is what your setup needs, the 40-degree version gives you a specific angle to work with.
