Westcott Flash Tube Protective Cover (FJ800 FJ400 FJ250 Bowens)
Westcott Flash Tube Protective Cover (FJ800 FJ400 FJ250 Bowens) | Helps guard against bag scuffs
At the end of a shoot, flash gear often goes back into a larger bag alongside other kit. The Westcott Flash Tube Protective Cover gives the flash tube a separate layer of protection for that journey, helping reduce scratches and bumps while your gear is packed away. It’s a protective case or pouch, rather than a replacement for your main equipment bag, and its purpose is straightforward: keep the tube better protected when stored or carried with other items. The cover is named for the Westcott FJ800, FJ400 and FJ250, as well as Bowens equipment. That makes it relevant if one of those is part of your lighting setup and you want to avoid leaving the tube exposed inside a shared bag. It suits photographers who pack their flash gear away between sessions and want a simple buffer against everyday contact with the rest of their kit.
Specialist Note
A flash tube loose among the rest of your kit can pick up scuffs or knocks as you pack and move your gear; this cover gives it its own protective layer. I’d use it when packing a Westcott FJ800, FJ400 or FJ250, or Bowens equipment, into a larger bag, so the tube isn’t left directly exposed to nearby kit. Because it’s a pouch-style protective case, its job is to help with scratches and bumps during ordinary storage and transport. It’s a considered little addition if you regularly pack your flash gear away. I’d treat it as a buffer in the bag, rather than protection for rough handling.
