7Artisans 14mm f/2.8 FullFrame Clicked&de-Clicked - Z Mount
7Artisans 14mm f/2.8 FullFrame Clicked&de-Clicked - Z Mount | Go wide for landscapes and night skies
At a viewpoint, a broad landscape can be hard to fit into the frame without stepping back; in a tight interior, there may be nowhere to go. This 14mm ultra-wide prime gives Nikon Z photographers a 114° angle of view to work with, and its full-frame coverage makes it suited to expansive landscapes and architectural scenes. The f/2.8 maximum aperture is useful when light is low, including for night-sky photography. It’s a manual-focus interchangeable lens, so it suits photographers who prefer to set focus themselves and take a considered approach to composition. The Clicked&de-Clicked name points to an aperture control that can be used with or without clicks, giving you a choice of feel when adjusting the aperture. This is a specialist wide-angle view: it can make close foregrounds feel prominent, so pay attention to what enters the edges of the frame.
Specialist Note
The option of a clicked or de-clicked aperture ring changes how you make adjustments: use the clicks when you want distinct settings, or the smoother movement when you want to adjust quietly and continuously. At f/2.8, you have a useful setting to start from for a night sky; focus manually on a bright star, then adjust exposure to suit the scene. For architecture, keep the camera level where possible and check the frame edges—the 14mm view includes a lot, and nearby lines can look exaggerated. I’d suggest this to a Nikon Z photographer who enjoys working deliberately with manual focus. Its wide view is a strength, but it takes care to keep a composition tidy.
