7Artisans 52mm True Colour CPL Filter
7Artisans 52mm True Colour CPL Filter | Tame reflections and bring out detail
Reflections on water and glass can hide the detail you wanted to photograph; a circular polarising filter can help reduce them. The 7Artisans 52mm True Colour CPL Filter is made for photographers who want more control over reflections and the appearance of a bright sky, especially outdoors. Turn the filter while looking through your camera or at its screen, and the effect changes with its position relative to the light. That makes it useful for landscape scenes, shop windows and water, where a small adjustment can reveal more of what’s behind a reflection. The 52mm size is the key practical detail: it’s for a lens with a matching 52mm filter thread. “True Colour” is part of the product name, but the result still depends on the light and your chosen angle. A CPL is most useful when you can see the effect as you adjust it, rather than treating it as a fixed look.
Specialist Note
The 7Artisans 52mm True Colour CPL Filter is at its best when you want to reduce reflections and see more of the scene beneath them. Its 52mm size means you’ll need a lens with a matching filter thread; that’s the detail to check when choosing where to use it. As a CPL, it lets you adjust the effect by turning the filter, so watch the view as you rotate it and stop when reflections on water or a window ease without the scene looking forced. The True Colour name will appeal if you’re mindful of colour, but I wouldn’t expect the filter to control every colour shift in changing light. It also reduces the light reaching the camera, so keep an eye on shutter speed in dim conditions.
