7Artisans 62mm True Colour CPL Filter
7Artisans 62mm True Colour CPL Filter | Manage reflections and glare
Bright reflections on water, glass or glossy leaves can distract from the subject you’re trying to photograph. The 7Artisans 62mm True Colour CPL Filter is a circular polarising filter for controlling that kind of reflected light, and for adjusting the appearance of skies in a scene. It suits photographers who want to make those changes while composing, rather than relying on editing afterwards. A CPL’s effect depends on the angle between the camera, the light and the reflective surface, so you can rotate the filter and watch the view change. That makes it especially useful when the light and reflections are part of the picture, not just something you can avoid by changing position. The 62mm size is the key detail when choosing a filter for your lens. This is a practical option for landscape work, outdoor scenes and photographs through windows, where reflections can obscure detail.
Specialist Note
The round, rotating face is what makes a CPL feel hands-on: turn it as you frame, and you can judge the change in reflections directly. I’d suggest it to someone photographing a pond, shop window or bright sky who wants control at the moment of taking the picture. For water or glass, rotate the filter while watching the reflected glare; for a sky, the polarising effect is strongest when you’re shooting at roughly 90 degrees to the sun. The 62mm size gives you a specific measurement to match to your lens. One trade-off: a polariser reduces the light reaching the camera, so in low light you may need a slower shutter speed or a higher ISO.
