7Artisans AF 10mm f/2.5 - Nikon Z-Mount
7Artisans AF 10mm f/2.5 - Nikon Z-Mount | A wider view for big scenes
Most wide scenes are handled by stepping back or making a panorama; this 10mm prime gives Nikon Z photographers another way to fit more into a single frame. It’s an ultra-wide lens for landscapes, architecture and astrophotography, especially when the breadth of a scene is part of the picture. The fixed focal length encourages you to work deliberately with foreground and background rather than zooming to reframe. Autofocus is there to help you get set on your subject without relying on manual focusing. For mountain views, expansive streetscapes or the night sky, the 7Artisans AF 10mm f/2.5 is built around a very broad perspective. It suits photographers who want that expansive look and are ready to pay attention to what enters the edges of the frame.
Framing on Nikon DX
If you use it on a Nikon Z DX body, the framing is equivalent to about 15mm on full frame, using the 1.5× crop factor. That’s still an expansive angle, but the extra context can help when you’re composing a mountain ridge or fitting a building into a tight street scene. On either format, check the frame edges before you shoot: at this angle, nearby objects can take up more space than you expect.
Specialist Note
A 10mm view can be demanding: a small change in where you stand may alter the balance of the whole frame. I’d still recommend this lens when you want that very wide perspective without stitching several frames together. Its f/2.5 maximum aperture gives you a useful starting point for night-sky work; try f/2.5 and an 8-second exposure, then adjust ISO to suit the light. For architecture, use autofocus to settle on the main subject, keep the camera level and leave a little breathing room around the building. It’s a strong match for photographers who enjoy composing carefully, rather than correcting a crowded frame later.
