7Artisans AF40mm f/2.5 - Sony E Mount - FullFrame - Black | A simple street and travel prime

The 7Artisans AF40mm f/2.5 - Sony E Mount - FullFrame - Black pairs a 40mm focal length with full-frame coverage, giving Sony E photographers a standard prime for everyday scenes. It’s built for people who want to photograph street life and travel with a fixed view rather than carry a zoom. The estimated 57° angle of view takes in enough of a scene for a person in their surroundings, while keeping the subject prominent in the frame. Autofocus helps when you need to respond to a changing moment, from someone stepping into the light to a detail you notice while walking. As an interchangeable lens, it’s a straightforward fit for a Sony E system. Its perspective suits candid portraits, cafés and city details, and it can also make a practical single-lens option for a day of travel.

Specialist Note

Photographers who follow street scenes, café moments and changing details on a trip will get the most from this prime. I’d open it to f/2.5 when the light drops; that gives you more room to choose a faster shutter, for example around 1/250 sec for people moving through the frame, then raise ISO as needed. Autofocus is handy when you want to keep your attention on timing instead of turning a focus ring. It’s a considered pick for a simple, walk-around setup, though I wouldn’t choose it for distant subjects that need to fill the frame.
