7Artisans Infinte 35mm T2.1 FullFrame DE-Clicked EF Mount
7Artisans Infinte 35mm T2.1 FullFrame DE-Clicked EF Mount | A fast prime for video work
For video scenes that need a natural, moderately wide view and room to work in lower light, the 7Artisans Infinte 35mm T2.1 FullFrame DE-Clicked EF Mount is a manual-focus standard prime for Canon EF. Its 35mm focal length gives a 63° angle of view on full frame, making it a practical fit for dialogue, small interiors and considered moving shots. The maximum T2.1 aperture lets you work with less available light or separate a subject from the background with a shallower depth of field. Its de-clicked design is aimed at filming, where quiet, continuous aperture changes help avoid visible jumps in exposure during a shot. This lens suits filmmakers who want hands-on control over focus and exposure, rather than relying on autofocus. It’s a focused tool for video, with a familiar field of view that’s easy to place in a scene.
Specialist Note
Autofocus can get in the way when you want a deliberate focus change during a take; this lens puts that decision in your hands. I’d use the 35mm view for a two-person conversation or a moving shot through a compact room, setting focus manually before the action begins. The T2.1 maximum aperture gives you room to keep a scene bright when the available light is limited. Its de-clicked aperture is useful when you need to adjust exposure while recording without stepping between clicks. On a Canon APS-C EF-S body, its framing is roughly equivalent to 56mm on full frame. The trade-off is manual focus, so it suits planned focus work better than fast, unpredictable action.
