B+W Black Mist 1 MRC Nano V-PRO 77mm
B+W Black Mist 1 MRC Nano V-PRO 77mm | Give highlights a softer glow
Bright points of light take on a gentle glow, while the overall image feels less crisp and contrasty. The B+W Black Mist 1 MRC Nano V-PRO is a creative filter for photographers and filmmakers who want that softened rendering in camera, rather than adding the effect later. It’s particularly suited to portraits with bright highlights, night scenes with visible lights, and other images where a little bloom helps set the mood. The “1” is part of the Black Mist grade, so this is a deliberate look—not a subtle correction you’d use without considering the scene. Look for bright light sources or reflective highlights when you want the effect to read clearly; with flatter lighting, it may be less noticeable. This is a filter for shaping the image, not a neutral look for every situation. The 77mm size identifies the filter diameter, so it’s the key measurement when matching it to a lens.
Specialist Note
77 mm is the filter diameter, which means the lens needs a matching 77mm filter thread for a direct fit. Black Mist 1 is the effect grade: in practical terms, expect a visible softening around bright highlights, not just a barely-there change. I’d suggest it to someone who wants a more atmospheric portrait or a gentle halo around practical lights in a night scene; place those bright sources in the composition so the filter has something to work on. MRC Nano V-PRO is the full series name on this version. One honest point: the softened rendering is a creative choice, and it won’t suit a scene where you want every highlight to look clean and sharp.
