Boya Deadcat Windshield BY-T50
Boya Deadcat Windshield BY-T50 | Helps reduce wind noise
Wind across a microphone can turn a clear voice recording into a distracting rumble. The Boya Deadcat Windshield BY-T50 is designed to help soften that problem by covering a microphone with a deadcat-style windshield. It’s aimed at people recording speech outdoors or in other breezy places, where air moving across the mic can get in the way of what they’re trying to capture. Use it when recording an interview, a piece to camera or spoken narration outside, and you can give the microphone some protection from moving air. It’s a focused accessory, rather than a way to fix every source of poor audio: wind protection won’t remove traffic, handling noise or a gust that overwhelms the recording. For outdoor speech, though, reducing wind at the microphone is a practical step towards a cleaner take.
Specialist Note
For a breezy outdoor interview, the BY-T50 is the sort of accessory I’d consider before pressing record. Its deadcat-style design is there to break up wind at the microphone, which can make spoken words easier to hear when you’re recording outside. I’d use it for a short interview or a piece to camera, and still position the mic out of the strongest airflow; the cover can help, but it can’t make a very gusty location quiet. The name identifies it as a windshield, so think of it as a targeted aid for wind, not a general audio fix. It suits anyone making outdoor voice recordings who wants to address that specific nuisance.
