Caruba EW-60F Black
Caruba EW-60F Black | Reduce flare and protect the front lens
The Caruba EW-60F Black is a lens hood made specifically for the Canon EF-M 18-150mm F/3.5-6.3 IS STM. It screens the lens from unwanted incoming light, helping to reduce flare and colour casts in your images. The hood also provides extra protection for the front lens, which is useful when handling the camera between shots. It’s a straightforward match for photographers using this Canon zoom who want to limit stray light and add a layer of protection at the front of the lens. For example, it’s useful when making portraits with bright light coming from beside the subject, or when photographing near a sunlit window where light can spill into the lens. It can also help keep the front lens shielded during ordinary camera handling. The EW-60F is a dedicated accessory for the named lens, rather than a general-purpose hood for any lens.
What it does
- Made for a specific lens: The EW-60F is intended for the Canon EF-M 18-150mm F/3.5-6.3 IS STM. That clear pairing makes it easy to identify as the hood for this zoom.
- Screens unwanted light: The hood blocks light that would otherwise enter the lens. This is useful when a light source sits outside your composition but still affects the image.
- Helps limit lens flare: By screening stray light, it reduces the conditions that produce flare. That matters especially when a bright source is close to the edge of the frame.
- Helps prevent colour casts: Unwanted light can affect the colours in a photograph. The hood helps limit that effect, keeping the image less vulnerable to stray illumination.
- Extra front-lens protection: The hood adds a protective barrier in front of the lens. It’s a useful safeguard against incidental contact while you handle the camera.
Specialist Note
With the EW-60F fitted, unwanted light has a barrier before it reaches the lens, so flare and colour casts are less of a concern when bright light comes from outside the frame. It’s specifically matched to the Canon EF-M 18-150mm F/3.5-6.3 IS STM, so this is a focused purchase for owners of that zoom, not a universal hood. For a portrait near a bright window, fit the hood and keep the window just outside the composition to reduce stray light. The same approach is handy outdoors with the sun off to one side. I also value the extra cover over the front lens when the camera is being handled.
