Caruba StepUp/Down Ring 74mm - 72mm
Caruba StepUp/Down Ring 74mm - 72mm | Bridge two filter-thread sizes
The Caruba StepUp/Down Ring connects two filter-thread sizes: 74mm and 72mm. It’s for photographers whose lens and filter use different sizes, and who want a simple way to bring those two parts together in one filter setup. Rather than replacing a filter just because its thread size differs, you can use a ring made for this specific size pair. That makes it most useful when your kit includes both 74mm and 72mm filter threads and you want to work across them. The key detail is the exact pair: this isn’t a general-purpose adapter for every lens or filter size. Check that your setup uses these two diameters before choosing it. If they match, the ring gives you a straightforward connection between them without adding another filter to your kit.
Specialist Note
74mm is the larger of the two thread sizes, so this ring is for a setup where a 74mm connection needs to meet a 72mm one. I’d consider it if you already own a filter in one of these sizes and have a lens or filter holder in the other; the point is to bridge that particular mismatch, not to cover every size in your bag. It can help keep a filter in use across a 74mm/72mm setup instead of buying another filter solely for the thread difference. One limitation is clear: a different thread-size pair needs a different ring. Match both sides to your equipment before relying on it.
