Cokin Nuances Extreme Reverse Kit Z Serie
Cokin Nuances Extreme Reverse Kit Z Serie | Tame bright horizons
Its reverse design is what sets the Cokin Nuances Extreme Reverse Kit apart: it’s intended for scenes where the brightest area sits along the horizon, rather than evenly across the sky. That makes it especially relevant to landscape photographers working with a low sun, where the horizon can be much brighter than the foreground. The Z Serie name identifies the filter series, so this kit is for photographers working with a Cokin Z-series filter setup. A reverse filter can help balance that bright strip while keeping the foreground in the frame, rather than forcing you to choose between sky and land exposure. It’s a specialised tool, not a general-purpose filter for every scene. If you often photograph open horizons at sunrise or sunset, its design addresses a specific exposure problem; for scenes without a bright horizon, the reverse effect may be less useful.
Specialist Note
First-time reverse-filter users can expect the effect to darken the whole sky evenly; this design is meant to concentrate it around the horizon instead. I’d consider it for a low sun over a sea or open landscape, where you want to retain foreground detail without letting the bright horizon dominate. The “reverse” part is useful when that bright band is the challenge; the Z Serie designation matters because the kit is intended for that Cokin filter series. Look for a clear, fairly level horizon to make the graduated effect easier to position. It’s a specialised approach, so it’s less suited to a scene where the brightest area is elsewhere.
