Desq Reversible Lens Hood 58mm
Desq Reversible Lens Hood 58mm | A hood that reverses for storage
Desq Reversible Lens Hood 58mm is a 58mm lens hood with a reversible design, for photographers who want a simple way to manage stray light and keep their kit easy to pack. A lens hood can help shield the lens from light coming in at an angle, which may reduce flare when a bright source sits near the edge of your frame. That makes a hood useful for outdoor scenes and portraits in changeable light. Its reversible design gives you a practical way to turn the hood around when you’re packing up, rather than leaving it extended. The 58mm designation is the key identifier when you’re choosing this particular hood. It’s a straightforward accessory: useful when you want to control light at the lens, and compact to store in its reversed position between shooting.
Using the reversible design
For a scene with strong light just outside the frame, use the hood in its forward-facing position and compose as usual. If flare is still visible, shift your framing slightly or block the light source where practical; the hood is a physical shade, not a fix for every lighting situation. When you’ve finished, reverse it for storage. That change of position is the practical point of this design: you can keep the hood with your camera kit without leaving it extended while you pack.
Specialist Note
Changing it from shooting position to reversed storage is a simple bit of kit handling, so you can put it away without leaving the hood projecting forward. The 58mm marking is the detail to match when identifying this version; take care to use the correct size rather than choosing by appearance alone. I’d consider it for outdoor portraits or a street scene with bright light close to the edge of the frame: keep the hood facing forward as you compose, then turn it around when you pack. Its job is to shade the lens, so don’t expect it to remove flare from a light source directly in the frame.
