DZOFILM Dzo Film Vespid FF 21mm T2.1 - PL & EF Mount (FT/M)
DZOFILM Dzo Film Vespid FF 21mm T2.1 - PL & EF Mount (FT/M) | Wide framing for cinematic scenes
Without a dedicated wide prime, crews often have to move the camera back to fit a room or location into frame. The DZOFILM Dzo Film Vespid FF 21mm T2.1 is a manual-focus cinema lens for filmmakers who want a broad view while keeping control over focus and exposure. Its 21mm focal length gives you room for establishing shots, interiors and scenes where the setting matters as much as the subject. On a full-frame sensor, the estimated 92° angle of view helps capture that context without stitching shots together. The T2.1 maximum aperture is useful when available light is limited or when you want more control over depth of field. This is a wide-angle prime for deliberate video work, especially narrative filmmaking and carefully composed location scenes. It rewards considered camera placement: close foreground objects can feel much larger than the background.
Specialist Note
“Can I use the 21mm Vespid for a tight interior without making the scene feel cramped?” Yes—it gives you a wide view, and I’d start by keeping the camera level and placing it far enough from people that faces don’t dominate the frame. The T2.1 aperture gives you room to work in dimmer locations; at 24 fps, a shutter near 1/48 sec is a sensible starting point, then adjust ISO to suit the light. I’d also use it for an establishing shot that needs to show a room’s layout in one frame. It suits filmmakers who are comfortable pulling focus manually. Its wide perspective can exaggerate nearby objects, so I’d avoid placing a face right at the edge.
