Formatt Hitech Firecrest 67mm Superslim UV IR Cut
Formatt Hitech Firecrest 67mm Superslim UV IR Cut | Slim UV/IR filtering
The 67mm size and Superslim profile define this filter: it keeps the added ring low-profile while providing UV/IR cut at the lens. The Formatt Hitech Firecrest 67mm Superslim UV IR Cut suits photographers who want that specific filtering in a compact format, rather than a filter chosen to change exposure. Its purpose is straightforward: it cuts ultraviolet and infrared light. That makes it relevant when you want UV/IR-cut functionality on a lens that takes 67mm filters, including for outdoor landscapes or architectural scenes. The Superslim design keeps the front of the setup less bulky, a practical detail if you prefer a restrained filter setup. It’s a specialist optical choice, not an all-purpose effect filter: choose it for its UV/IR-cut function, and make exposure decisions separately. At Renz, we see it as a focused addition for photographers who know why they want UV and infrared filtering.
Specialist Note
Photographers framing open landscapes or building elevations are the people I’d have in mind for this Firecrest. Its 67mm size gives you a clear fit criterion: use it on a lens with a 67mm filter thread, so the UV/IR cut sits in front of the lens while you compose. The Superslim profile keeps that added ring low-profile, which suits a tidy setup when you’re working with a filter fitted. For a landscape, attach it before composing; for architectural work, use it when you want the same UV/IR-cut function. One useful distinction: this isn’t an ND filter, so it won’t give you longer shutter speeds in bright conditions.
