Formatt Hitech Glass 100x100mm Soft Silver 1/8
Formatt Hitech Glass 100x100mm Soft Silver 1/8 | A measured silver look in square glass
Formatt Hitech Glass 100x100mm Soft Silver 1/8 is a square glass filter with a Soft Silver 1/8 finish. It’s for photographers and filmmakers who want to work with that named silver look as part of their image-making, rather than rely on a broad post-production adjustment. The 100x100mm format gives you a defined square filter size to plan around, while the glass construction makes this a considered piece of kit for a setup built around filters. Its appeal is its specific character: Soft Silver, at the 1/8 grade, rather than an unspecified effect. You might choose it for a portrait where you want a deliberate silver quality, or for a product image where a restrained finish helps shape the mood. The effect is the point here, so it suits a shoot with a clear visual intention more than a neutral, everyday filter selection.
Specialist Note
The 100x100mm square format makes this a filter to plan into your setup before you’re composing, rather than an effect to reach for casually mid-shot. Its glass construction gives it a defined physical form, so handle and store it with care as part of your filter kit. I’d consider the Soft Silver 1/8 for a portrait when you want the silver character to be part of the image, or for a product detail where that same finish supports the feel you’re after. The named 1/8 grade gives you a specific starting point; it isn’t a neutral filter, so I’d use it when that look is wanted, not as a default for every frame.
