Freewell 58mm Base Ring Cap For Real Locking VND
Freewell 58mm Base Ring Cap For Real Locking VND | Keep your filter covered
Designed specifically as a cap for Freewell’s Real Locking VND system, this accessory gives the filter’s base ring a cover when it’s not in use. It suits photographers who want to keep their variable ND setup together between shots, rather than leave the ring exposed in a camera bag or on a shelf. Its job is simple: cover the base ring during storage and handling, so the filter is less exposed to dust and accidental contact. There’s no extra filter effect to learn and no change to your exposure settings; this is an accessory for keeping the setup covered, not for controlling light. If you already use the Real Locking VND, it’s a straightforward way to finish the setup when the filter comes off the lens. Just remember to remove the cap before shooting.
Specialist Note
First-time owners often leave the base ring uncovered as soon as the filter comes off the lens; this cap gives that part of the setup a clear place to be protected between uses. The 58mm sizing makes it specific to the matching filter setup, so I’d keep it with that kit rather than treat it as a general-purpose cap. It’s handy when packing the Real Locking VND away between locations or setting it aside while you change filters: fit the cap for storage, then remove it before you shoot. One honest point: it won’t affect the VND’s light reduction, so it’s a storage accessory, not a shooting control.
