Freewell Osmo Pocket 4p ND1000 Filter - Black
Freewell Osmo Pocket 4p ND1000 Filter - Black | Make long exposures in bright light
The Freewell Osmo Pocket 4p ND1000 Filter - Black is a strong neutral-density filter for reducing the light reaching the camera. It’s made for Osmo Pocket 4p users who want more control over shutter speed in bright conditions, rather than relying on a fast shutter for every shot. An ND1000 filter can make long exposures possible in daylight, giving moving water a softer look or letting clouds blur as they pass. It can also help when you want visible motion blur in a scene that would otherwise need a very short exposure. This is a specialist filter for deliberate exposure choices, not an all-purpose accessory for every lighting situation. The effect depends on the light and the shutter speed you choose, so it suits people happy to adjust their settings to get a particular look.
What an ND1000 filter lets you do
ND1000 represents a substantial reduction in incoming light—around 10 stops. As a rough exposure example, a shutter speed of 1/1000 second without the filter could become about 1 second with it, if the scene and other settings stay the same. That gives you room to record movement as blur in bright surroundings. For a steady result, keep the camera still during a long exposure; the filter slows the shutter, but it doesn’t prevent camera movement.
Specialist Note
Sunlight flashes across a canal, and the water is moving too quickly for a soft, blurred look. That’s where this ND1000 earns its place: its strong light reduction gives you scope to use a much slower shutter in bright conditions. For a starting point, if your unfiltered exposure is around 1/1000 second, try roughly 1 second with the filter, then adjust for the actual light. I’d suggest it to Osmo Pocket 4p owners who want flowing water or drifting clouds to show movement rather than freeze sharply. The black finish keeps the accessory visually understated; the honest trade-off is that this density is intended for strong light, not every scene.
