Freewell Real Locking Variable ND/CPL Filter Mega Kit

Freewell Real Locking Variable ND/CPL Filter Mega Kit | Flexible light and reflection control

The name brings together variable neutral-density control, CPL polarisation and a locking design, giving this Freewell filter a broader role than an ND filter alone. It suits photographers and filmmakers who want to adjust the light reaching the lens while also managing reflections. The variable ND function is useful when bright conditions call for less light without changing your chosen exposure settings; the CPL function can help reduce reflections from surfaces such as glass or water. That makes the combination particularly relevant for outdoor video, reflective scenes and changing daylight. “Mega Kit” identifies the product as a kit, but the name alone doesn’t tell us what’s included, so I wouldn’t make assumptions about its contents. If you’re comparing filters, focus on those two named functions and the locking design rather than expecting a particular ND range or lens fit from the title.

Where its two filter functions help

For video in bright daylight, variable ND control can help you reduce incoming light while keeping the shutter setting you’ve chosen. For a view through a shop window or across water, CPL adjustment can reduce distracting reflections and make more of the scene visible. The locking design is part of the product’s identity; the title doesn’t specify a locking mechanism, so I’d avoid assuming how it operates.
