H&Y HD EVO-Series Balancer GND16 Filter Kit 95mm
H&Y HD EVO-Series Balancer GND16 Filter Kit 95mm | Tame bright skies in the frame
H&Y HD EVO-Series Balancer GND16 Filter Kit 95mm combines a 95mm format with a GND16 graduated neutral-density filter for photographers facing a bright sky above darker land. It suits landscape and architectural work where you want to hold detail in both parts of the scene, rather than exposing for one and losing information in the other. GND16 denotes a 16× reduction in the filtered area, equivalent to four stops; the graduated design applies that change across part of the image. That makes it relevant to strong brightness differences, such as an evening sky over a shadowed shoreline or a city roofline against open sky. The 95mm size gives you a specific filter format to plan around. Before composing, consider where the graduation should sit in the frame, especially if the horizon is uneven or crosses important details. This is a focused option for scenes where managing the sky’s brightness is part of the exposure decision.
Specialist Note
At dusk, a bright band of sky above a dark city roofline can make exposure feel like a compromise. For that kind of scene, I’d consider this GND16 when the brightness difference is pronounced: its four-stop reduction gives the brighter part of the frame substantial control. Place the graduated area over the sky and keep its transition near the roofline, taking care not to darken buildings that rise into it. The 95mm size is worth factoring into your filter setup before you head out; it’s a specific format, not a promise of universal fit. One honest point: four stops may be too much for a scene with only a mild tonal gap. It suits photographers working with stronger contrasts and deliberate compositions.
